Logansport Savings Bank Welcomes New Junior Board Members

Logansport Savings Bank is proud to welcome 16 exceptional high school students from across Cass County to its Junior Board for the 2026–2027 school year.

Now entering its eighth year, the Logansport Savings Bank Junior Board program provides local students with meaningful, hands-on opportunities to learn about leadership, financial literacy, career possibilities and the many ways they can make a difference in their own community.

This year’s Junior Board brings together students from Logansport High School, Lewis Cass Jr./Sr. High School, Pioneer Jr./Sr. High School and Caston Jr./Sr. High School, representing all four high schools in Cass County.

The Junior Board is led by four senior students serving in officer roles:

Avery Haselby, Junior Board President – Pioneer Jr./Sr. High

Landen Thorpe, Junior Board Vice-President – Lewis Cass Jr./Sr. High School

Madilie Franco, Junior Board Secretary – Logansport High School

Raegan Mundy, Junior Board Treasurer – Lewis Cass Jr./Sr. High School

Throughout the school year, Junior Board members will have the opportunity to visit local businesses and nonprofit organizations, hear from community leaders and learn from Logansport Savings Bank employees.

This year’s students will hear from organizations including the Cass County Humane Society, Workman Associates, The Kitchen & Pavilion Logansport, Mental Health America and Emmaus Food Pantry. They will also have the opportunity to hear from a variety of Logansport Savings Bank staff members and receive mentorship throughout the year from Deion Rennewanz, Oliver Liborio, Zeke Alvarez, Nikki Ellington and Chad Higgins.

For Logansport Savings Bank, the program is about more than preparing students for their future careers. It is about helping them recognize the opportunities that exist right here at home and showing them the impact, they can have when they choose to invest in their community.

The Junior Board recently kicked off the year with a visit to the Cass County Humane Society, where students learned about its mission and met Executive Director Natalie Baldini. The organization cares for abandoned, homeless and lost animals throughout Cass County, providing food, veterinary care, shelter and enrichment to animals in need. Students also had the opportunity to spend time with some of the animals, making their first visit a memorable hands-on experience.

Experiences like this give students a firsthand look at the people and organizations doing important work in their community and help them understand why supporting those organizations matters.

This year, Junior Board members will also have two opportunities to give back to the community.

Their first will take place through the Annual Logansport Basketball Tournament in December. The students will work together to select a local nonprofit to support, raise funds for the organization and create a marketing video to share before the tournament.

Students will also have the opportunity to give back through volunteer and community service hours throughout the school year. Logansport Savings Bank will track and reimburse students for their service, with the funds they earn being combined in the spring to support a local nonprofit chosen by the Junior Board.

Through this experience, students will discover that giving back is about more than volunteering, it’s about showing up for others, giving your time and seeing how even small acts of service can make a lasting difference. Along the way, they’ll gain a deeper understanding of the local organizations and the people working every day to make Cass County a stronger place to live.
