Logansport Savings Bank's Junior Board Celebrates Successful Year of Service

Logansport Savings Bank's Junior Board Celebrates Successful Year of Service

The Logansport Savings Bank Junior Board concluded their year of service with an exciting and significant contribution to the Cass County community. Through dedicated volunteer efforts, the Junior Board has not only invested over 300 hours in community service but also facilitated meaningful monetary support for two area non-profit organizations.

Throughout the year, the LSB Junior Board members enthusiastically engaged in various community service initiatives on their own time. These hours were tracked and reimbursed by Logansport Savings Bank into a fund for making a non-profit donation at the end of their school year. At their final meeting of the 2023-2024 school year, the Logansport Savings Bank Junior Board donated $1,400 to Area Five Agency and $1,400 to the Galveston American Legion Post 415.

Pictured above are the 2023-2024 Junior Board members, Logansport Savings Bank staff mentors, and representatives from the Galveston American Legion Post 415. An additional photo with Area Five Agency Executive Director Chuck LaDow is also included on the home page of this blog post.

"We are incredibly proud of the Junior Board's achievements this year," said Chad Higgins, President and CEO of Logansport Savings Bank. "Their passion for service and commitment to our community have been truly inspiring. The donations to Area Five Agency and the Galveston American Legion Post 415 are a direct result of the hundreds of community service hours that these students completed throughout the year. This is a representation of their collaboration and teamwork as a Junior Board in working toward a common goal that makes a meaningful difference in our community.”

Working with and mentoring the Junior Board highlights Logansport Savings Bank’s ongoing commitment to fostering community engagement and making a positive impact beyond banking services. As a local, community bank, LSB is focused on empowering the next generation of leaders and helping them see what opportunities exist for career pathways right here at home.

A significant part of the Junior Board experience is to visit with different business leaders and organizations. Thanks to these local leaders and individuals, the LSB Junior Board made visits to these locations this year:

  • Mayor Chris Martin and the City of Logansport
  • Chief Travis Yike and the Logansport Police Department
  • Chief Rick Bair and the Logansport Fire Department
  • Chuck LaDow, Area Five Agency
  • Jason Mitchell and the Emmaus Mission Center Food Pantry
  • Jeremy Rentschler and Kori Pugh, Indiana Dimensions, Inc.
  • Casey Jones, Engineering Aggregates Corporation

The outgoing officers from the LSB Junior Board are graduating seniors – Esther Bien-Aime (Logansport), Finley Gay (Logansport), Drew McKaig (Pioneer), and Edison Byrum (Caston). Other graduating seniors include Chloe Chan (Pioneer), Haley Logan (Caston), and Kinsey Mennen (Lewis Cass). Current junior students serving on the board now will return in the fall as seniors, and Logansport Savings Bank will welcome a new class of juniors for the 2024-2025 school year. Students joining the Junior Board complete an application at each of their respective schools within our county (Logansport, Pioneer, Lewis Cass, and Caston) and school administrators select the junior students who will go on to represent their corporations.

Logansport Savings Bank looks forward to announcing and welcoming our new Junior Board members at the beginning of next school year.
